English born choral composer. Studied composition with Indian composer John Mayer at the Birmingham Conservatoire (1994-1998) and later with English composers Jeremy Dale Roberts and Edwin Roxburgh at the Royal College of Music, London (1998-2001).
Musical Influences range from Americas recent choral composers such as Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen to current UK choral composers such as Gabriel Jackson and Sir John Tavener. Works include Settings of Psalms, mass settings, preces and responses, liturgical responses, anthems, motets and biblical passages. Turnbull's Christian faith shapes much of his work as a composer.
