Johanna Dömötör

Flautist Johanna Dömötör was born in Germany to Hungarian parents. She studied in Budapest with Gyula Csetényi, in Stuttgart with Jean-Claude Gérard and Davide Formisano and in Hanover with Andrea Lieberknecht. She has won first prize at top-class competitions (Singapore, Mozart Competition Italy, etc.) and has received scholarships from important foundations (Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz). The Pro Europa Cultural Foundation awarded her the European Culture Prize. She has performed with orchestras such as La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. As principal flutist in the Basel Symphony Orchestra, she was appointed flute professor at the Bruckner University in Linz at the age of 26. In addition to her teaching activities there, she is a welcome juror at national and international competitions and a sought- after lecturer at master classes in Asia, Europe and the USA, among other places.
