Julia Wacker

Since graduating with the master class diploma from Gisèle Herbet, Julia Wacker has established herself as an internationally sought-after, versatile soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. As a member of the Basel Sinfonietta, she is just as adept at playing music of our time as she is as an interpreter of solo concerts by Debussy, Reinecke, Krumpholtz or Handel (invitations to festivals in Europe, Brazil and South Korea) or playing with flute and viola in the Basel Trio. With the Basel Trio, she was a finalist at the international chamber music competition in Lugano in 2017 and took part in the ARD competition as a soloist in 2009. She has won prizes and grants from Migros Culture Percentage and the Novartis Foundation. Julia Wacker received harp lessons and inspiration not only from Gisèle Herbet but also from Sarah O'Brien (Basel), Frédérique Cambreling (Paris) and Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche (Nice). Julia Wacker appreciates the diversity of her job and has – along her employment in classical concert formats – written her own play “Virginia und die verräterische Herz”, has given concerts with the Berlin avant-garde jazz ensemble “Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra”, has taken part in performances and has played in theater productions, for example in Zurich´s Theater Rigiblick.
